This piece was originally written for mandolin, viola, cello, and 1 person playing 2 toy pianos. It was commissioned by New Music Conflagration for the 2017 Florida International Toy Piano Festival, where it was premiered by Erich Barganier, Carrie Frey, Mandy Milliot, and Amy O'Dell.
This E.P. version is for banjo, viola, double bass, and 2 people playing the toy piano parts. It was created especially for the performers; we were all at University of Miami together. I am really quite fond of the change in instrumentation! We added a few personal flourishes as well.
I later arranged "Four Thunder Sheets & Lion Roars" for concert band, and called it "...and then the Universe exploded". For those who know that piece, you'll very much enjoy listening to its origins!
